You + Animal Art Challenge
Our first challenge, discovered by Cache-machine, can be found on the web here: http://www.geocaching.com/challenges/CX2DF9_You_Animal_Art.
We had fun rising to the occasion since we had just seen a number of painted Bison in South Dakota. Cache-machine found out all about them and completed the challenge. geo.sweetie knew of a collection of fun geese statues in Longmont Colorado, researched them, and completed the challenge.
Here are the fun Animal Art statues that we found in completing the game. Plus random artsy critters we've seen here and there!
geo.sweetie and Tulip Tillie. (in the interest of our anthropomorphic inclination we couldn't resist naming the geese.) Here was the info submitted to complete the challenge:
Meet the geese of Longmont Colorado. In 1989 the Longmont City Counsel passed the 1% Ordinance allowing for public artwork in the City. A diverse collection of public artwork appears in all areas of town, and includes media from bronze and stone to fabric, glass, and photography.
In 2002 the Geese Galore project was created to participate in the program, called Art In Public Places. The program culminated in the auction of all the geese with the proceeds going to many 401-c-3's in town.
