For the love of wandering
Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve
Mountains, mountains everywhere might just be the general theme of this gallery. From the Rocky Mountains to the San Juan De Cristos, we had them in spades during our jaunt. The reason for the trip - to visit The Great Sand Dunes National Park & Preserve.
We have long wanted to visit this area of Colorado, being in a new part of the state, as well as offering a very different venue for us. After months of delays due to weather and work schedules, spring 2012 finally sees us on our way! With a 4+ hour drive to reach the dunes, geocaching and photo stops on the way, our arrival in Alamosa Colorado was still timely enough to get our fill of sand. It was confirmed, the dunes are a marvelous and worthwhile site to see.
Also once again, thanks to geocaching, we saw sights we never would have thought to seek out but for ... finding cache.
~Enjoy the journey, to a most beautiful and interesting part of the state, with us. The photographs - in part trip report, and as offerings of the beauty of Colorado - are in sequential order as seen.~
