Foiled again! Our main attraction for going to this refuge was our hope to see Burrowing Owls. More than 70 percent of the California Burrowing Owl population is found within the Salton Sea ecosystem. Naturally we thought our time had finally come. But sadly no. Again. What we do know is that the more elusive they become, the sweeter it will be when we finally see them.

So was the lack of burrowing owls a spoiler? Certainly not! Enjoy the many bird species that we did see!
