The Fiery Furnace
One three hour foot tour and many incredible sights later we completed the guided hike through the Arches National Park Fiery Furnace area. We are not normally interested in pre-structured activities but due to the maze of canyons, dead-ends, and other geological features of the area we were glad we took the ranger lead trek. Our guide was fun and had great information.
The adventure was described as moderately strenuous, requiring the occasional use of hands (and legs and bottoms!) to scramble through narrow cracks and along narrow ledges. It was as described but was a fun good time! The group was rather large, 27 people, but all were good spirited and swept away by the beauty of the sights. Also, only in this area of the park was a rare plant growing that we were thrilled to have to opportunity to see - Arches (Canyonland) Biscuitroot!! Altogether, it was an outstanding experience.
