Winter at Waterton
Winter hiking in Colorado can be grand. Especially when it is warm enough to ride our motorcycles to the trail. It is a gift to see a near 60° day in mid January here in Colorado. But have it we did. It was a no-brainer to get outside on such a fine day.
Waterton Canyon is a close-in day hike of 13 miles round trip. Our winter outing, and first exploration of Waterton, was 7.5 miles. An easy hike with almost no elevation gain makes this a popular family hike. We saw many strollers, toddlers, and youngsters on bikes. One young machine was even tearing it up on training wheels.
Add big-horned sheep, a new species of duck, ladies out on their horses, and colorful rock formations, and don't bother asking if we had a good day :)
