Weller Lake Trail #1986 - October 26, 2008
A nice little hike of 1.2 miles - ROUND TRIP - little being the key word! Our hiking ambitions for this re-visit to the Aspen/Snowmass area were hampered by trouble with our early Christmas present - a sweet pop-up trailer!! But Mark got us fixed up and on Sunday we were free to enjoy this hike on the way home to Northglenn Colorado. The trail was easy with only 300 feet of elevation gain and a pretty lake as a destination. Other hikers warned us at the trailhead of poor conditions that turned them back after 1/3 mile. We noticed that they were wearing sneakers and sweatshirts, while we had on hiking boots, jackets, gloves, and hats. So on we went. The trail WAS indeed icy and rocky, but not impossible. We were careful and got to enjoy the picturesque Weller Lake for our trouble.
