Coldwater Lake Trail - June 29, 2019
Returning to Mt St. Helens, this hike was a 9 mile trek out and back, elevation gain 200', duration 5.34 hours.
Oh the wildflowers on this hike! The trail was a good mix of shade and sun. The trail offered the heady aroma of fragrant flowers on numerous parts of the trail. No trekking poles needed, at least for us, as the trail consisted of gentle ups and downs. The early part of the hike was especially pleasant with bird songs so profuse they almost seemed recorded. The songs were back on and off throughout the hike but no sightings of actual birds ever caught our eyes. No matter, their chirps, warbles, and whistles were delightful enough.
A definite recommend, especially at this time of year.
